GRP Open Mesh Grating

Open mesh grating is a durable, versatile, and robust flooring option used as an alternative to traditional steel mesh grating. BM Steel’s open mesh grating is crafted from ISO FR Polyester Resin Class 2 material, and is suitable for a gantry, platforms, walkways, pontoons, and many other industrial facilities and environments.

Open mesh flooring comes in a variety of thickness options which can be selected according to your specific needs. BM Steel offers 15mm, 25mm, 38mm, and 50mm open mesh flooring options.

GRP grating is made from Glass Reinforced Plastic or Glass Reinforced Polymer. This material is durable, versatile, and suits a wide range of uses and applications. GRP may also be known as glass fibre composite or fibreglass.

GRP is often used in environments with high levels of foot traffic and in footways which require a high weight-to-strength ratio. The strength performance of GRP improves as the width of its area declines; a 25mm grating that spans one square metre and is supported along all sides can withstand up to 0.33 tons per square metre, and a 38mm grating at 30cm wide can withstand loads of up to 12 tons or more.

When compared to traditional steel grating, GRP grating offers a number of advantages. It is stronger than steel, more lightweight, and provides anti-slip and anti-corrosive properties. GRP is also non-conductive, requires no maintenance, and has no scrap metal value, significantly reducing the risk of theft.
