Driver/Warehouse

Multi customer drops and movement of materials to fulfil customer/ inter-branch orders to schedule within health and safety guidelines. General fair usage and maintenance of vehicle, adherence to vehicle policy and all VOSA regulations. You may also be required to help out in the warehouse on occasion

Role and responsibilities

Multi customer drops and movement of materials to fulfil customer/ inter-branch orders to schedule within health and safety guidelines. General fair usage and maintenance of vehicle, adherence to vehicle policy and all VOSA regulations.

You may also be required to help out in the warehouse on occasion

  • To enable safe and efficient receipt, movement and storage of goods via company vehicle and manifest provided
  • To maintain the vehicle in a roadworthy condition and adhere to all VOSA regulations
  • To plan the most effective and efficient routes to suit delivery schedule and to minimise diesel usage where possible. Following a pre-planned manifest for drops, must be signed for and agreed before leaving.
  • To work efficiently and safely in the operation of machinery to lift and load material onto wagon to drivers manifest provided.
  • To assist in the management, storage and audit of stock in the warehouse through good housekeeping and maintenance of quality control procedures when not driving.
  • To work as part of a team with warehouse operatives to load and unload materials in timely fashion
  • To show courtesy and be helpful to customers/suppliers when collecting, delivering or returning materials to warehouse.
  • Maintain a safe workplace/vehicle without risk to health by proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and to implement measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the management.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy as required.
  • Any other duties as required by the company

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Class 2 driving experience: 2-year minimum
  • Experience with straps and ratchets
  • Experience with chains
  • Experience with steel is desirable, but not essential

Licence/Certification:

  • Class 2 licence
  • Driver CPC (preferred)
  • Good safety practices and driving habits
  • Digital Tacho card
  • A good understanding of Drivers hours and regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills

Depot Manager

    Premises, Health and Safety

  • Ensuring that all depot employees are operating in a clean and safe environment, which meets all Health & Safety requirements, as advised by Group Health & Safety Manager.
  • Ensuring that all points raised in any Health & Safety inspection are resolved within the timescale agreed with H&S Manager.
  • Ensuring that premises are maintained in a good state of repair, with any items of expenditure in excess of depot manager approval limits being highlighted for Regional Manager or Director approval.

    Stock Management and Housekeeping

  • Ensuring Stock limits are not breached.
  • Ensuring all depot ‘housekeeping’ procedures are adhered to (a full list of these tasks has been issued) and that all issues noted from these procedures are dealt with in required timescales.

    Depot Running Expenditure

  • Authority to approve expense payments for the general running of the depot, including general running costs, premises, plant and equipment maintenance, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Any non stock expenses > £1,500 must be approved by a Regional Manager or Director.
  • All capital items to be approved by a Regional Manager or Director.

    General

  • Responding to requests for information from Regional Managers/ Directors and head office in line with requested timescales.
  • Ensuring information provided to Regional Managers/ Directors or head office is accurate.

Warehouse Operative

The Warehouse Operative is required to participate in our warehouse operations and activities. Warehouse Operative responsibilities include storing materials, pulling materials and preparing them for onward delivery. This work is of a physical nature and involves lifting, carrying and pulling. The objective is to increase efficiency.

DUTIES

• Maintain inventory controls by stowing stock away in the relevant location.

• Prepare customer orders by processing work orders; picking materials, banding and labelling consignments, ready for vehicle loading.

• Prepare customer orders by processing customer collection requests; picking material and loading the customers vehicle when they arrive to collect their material.

• Assist drivers with loading vehicles and ensuring all material is loaded

• Operating overhead cranes and forklifts to assist with material handling.

• Ensure all stock discrepancies are reported to the Operations Manager or Depot Manager.

• Ensure PPE is worn at all times in the warehouse.

• Carry out all daily, weekly and monthly checks as required by the companies procedures.

• Maintain equipment by performing ‘Before Use Checks’ and reporting any faults.

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping all racking and floor areas free from waste.

• Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing other tasks as specified by your line managers.

• Adhere to our environmental policy by ensuring all waste is disposed of in the correct skips (wood, metal, general).

Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet internal and external quality standards. They will work closely with production, suppliers, and customers to drive continuous improvement, resolve quality issues, and maintain compliance with industry standards


Role and Reponsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer specifications and other relevant quality standards.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain product consistency and reliability.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain documentation and records in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Timely closure of customer issues with effective communication and resolution.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reduce defects.

  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure material quality meets specifications and resolve supplier-related issues.

Desired requirements:

  • Previous experience in steel, oil and gas, welding inspection, shipbuilding, renewable energy or manufacturing.
  • Experience of ISO 9001:2015. Internal Auditor trained (or willingness to undergo training).
  • Knowledge and understanding of steel/ steel grades/ specifications/ steel stockholding/ engineering terminology along with material testing/ NDT procedures.
  • An ability to communicate at all levels is essential as you will be responsible for attending meetings, and facilitating and presenting on quality matters, to project teams, suppliers, and Client organisations.
  • A high level of organisation and ability to multitask is essential, as you will have the responsibility for planning and completing many tasks simultaneously and coordinating a small team of Quality staff.

Production Team Leader

  • To lead and manage a team of machine operators to maintain operational efficiency and quality levels as agreed with the Production Manager.
  • To ensure the efficient and timely operation of machines and all administration systems and operating procedures associated with the processing of materials.
  • To distribute works tickets to the most appropriate machine and operative and in liaison with the Production Manager, to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and to the strict quality standards set out by the Quality Manager.
  • To ensure the T Card (or alternative) progress system is kept up to date in real time, so the Sales Department, Production Department and the Management team can monitor tickets in progress throughout the facility for all shifts.
  • To ensure machine operatives progress T Cards in a timely and orderly fashion in accordance with the processing order defined by the Production Manager.
  • To ensure all production processes and paperwork are completed legibly and accurately consistently and handed in to the correct departmental personnel in a timely manner.
  • To time manage the Production Department material workflow and machine operatives so as to ensure that work flows through each stage of the production processes in the most efficient manner.
  • When necessary, to assist in completing employee file notes in cases where company standards are not met. Completed employee file notes must be handed to the Production Manager/Human Resources to scan and keep on file with the operatives HR documentation file for action or record.
  • To deputize for another Team Leader Machine Operator whilst they are out of the business for any reason (Meetings, Holiday, Training & Sickness).
  • In liaison with the Production Administrator and Production Manager, plan that adequate consumable supplies are ordered and kept in stock to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • To ensure that any Technical and/or Safety bulletins for Processing Machinery are distributed to each machine operative as appropriate.
  • To ensure that data for OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) reports is collated and input into the OEE spreadsheet (with the assistance of the Production Administrator where necessary) so that OEE statistics can be produced accurately on a daily basis.
  • To act on information produced by OEE statistics to ensure that workflow efficiencies are maximized at every opportunity.
  • To be fully conversant in all aspects of operating each piece of machinery under your supervision.
  • To assist and act as mentor in the training of Machine Operatives to ensure their skills levels are kept to the highest standards.
  • To ensure machinery is operated in line with published SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times.
  • To ensure good housekeeping is maintained throughout the Production work areas and machinery on a daily basis. This will include timely TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) schedules are adhered to.
  • To comply with the dress code, HSE and quality standards agreed within the company and to have personal responsibilities for the application of policies and procedures established for the department.
  • Conduct ‘Before Use Checks’ and report all faults to the maintenance department.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping all racking and floor areas free from waste.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing other tasks as specified by your line managers.
