Bright Round Bars (Imperial) - FAQs
Bright round bars are available in various grades, such as EN3B, EN8, EN1A, EN19T, and EN24T.
The bright mild steel used for our bright round bars (imperial) is made differently to regular mild steel. Cold rolling (cold drawn and finished) is the process used to make bright mild steel. The steel is processed at a temperature lower than the recrystallisation temperature, allowing the grain structure to be altered when it reaches the recrystallisation temperature. Regular mild steel is processed at room temperature, requires additional pressure, and passes through machine rollers. Bright round bars have lower tensile strength and some distortions, which are not usually found in regular mild steel.
Bright round bars are used when you require round steel sections with a bright finish and precise diameters.
No, bright round bars are softer and more malleable than black bars, which are harder and more brittle than bright mild steel.
