BM Steel group were very proud to enter our team of 8 athletes into the Nottingham 10K on the 10th of March. The wet weather was not going to dampen the teams’ spirits as they prepared for the run, discussing their estimated times. Huge thank you goes to William and Elliot who were dressed up as Mario and Luigi, Bradley and Noah who joined to represent our company.

With a new course starting in the city centre and finishing in the grounds of Nottingham castle this was set up to be an amazing run for our team.

The first 4km saw the team running up hill through the city centre and past the Nottingham Trent university and round Church Rock cemetery. From here the team would then run slightly downhill through the city centre past the Nottingham Arena, with the castle now in sight the team would have to now navigate the 105m elevation change from the 8K to 9K round the Park estate. The last 1k was all down hill into the Castle grounds. This being the first ever modern-day sporting event to be held in the castle ground made this a momentous occasion for the team.

As the team arrived back, it was 16 year old, long distance runner Bradley flew round the course on his first ever 10km and joined the family and friends to cheer on the rest of the team as they arrived back.

Steve was next and powered through to the finish line.Martin was soon over the line too with confidence, Lee came across the line with ease and had time on the final few metres to check his watch vs the race clock.

Jean-Pierre came into the castle grounds celebrating another completed run and was high fiving the crowd as he passed through, soaking up every bit of the atmosphere. Next through was Noah who was calm and relaxed as he crossed the line.

Finally through the line was William and Elliot who had stuck together the whole run, again enjoying the atmosphere and the crowd reaction to their costumes as they crossed the line.
